Last September, a possible road rage incident resulted in the death of 19-year-old Cody Johnson. His family still seek answers and are working with Crime Stoppers to get them. A billboard went up this week in Katy and a reward of $30,000 is being offered.

On September 27, 2024, 19-year-old Cody Johnson left his home around 7:00 p.m. to go see his girlfriend in Katy. He was shot in his car at the 23600 block of the Katy Freeway, on the westbound road, near the Grand Parkway around 8:00 p.m.

“Grief is intensified when justice is lacking and sadly right now justice is lacking for Cody and his family,” says Andy Kahan, Director of Victim Services for Crime Stoppers Houston. “Hopefully the billboard will remind the public this case remains unsolved and will prompt tips that could lead to the suspect or suspects.”

Hope is for Billboard to Raise Awareness

The billboard went up this week near I-10 and FM 1463 in Katy. It prominently displays the $30,000 reward that Crime Stoppers is offering and pictures of Cody.

Cody loved cars and drove a 2011 black Camaro with distinctive gold rims that his family hopes could play a role in finding his killer as the vehicle would have been memorable to others on the road that night.

Cody Johnson lived in Missouri City and graduated from Ridge Point High School last year. At the time of his death, Cody was supposed to start a new job the following Tuesday selling cars. His family says that they wouldn’t wish this on anyone and desperately seek answers as to what happened to their son.

If you or anyone has any information that could help lead to answers for the Johnson family, please call 713-222-TIPS. As with all Crime Stoppers cases, calls are anonymous.
