The Katy Area Retired Educators (K.A.R.E.) announced seven scholarship recipients today. The group supports Katy area seniors planning to pursue careers in education.

“We are proud to announce and celebrate this year’s Katy ISD K.A.R.E. Scholarship Recipients,” says Bob Bryant, Scholarship Chairman.
The Katy Area Retired Educators (K.A.R.E.) the local chapter of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas announced 7 Katy scholarship recipients. The chapter has a membership of over 200 retired teachers, librarians, counselors, and administrators.
“KARE Scholarships are only available to those students who plan a career in education -- we see this as an investment in the future of teachers; just a small help on their way to the noble "calling" of a teaching career,” says Bryant.
K.A.R.E. Scholars
Samantha Gardner
Samantha Gardner, graduating from Katy High School will be pursuing her college education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She will be working to attain her degree in the field of Special Education. Samantha would like to teach students in high school Life Skills classes.
Riley Hull
Riley Hull is graduating from Katy High School and will be attending Texas A&M University pursuing a degree in Special Education. She would like to become an elementary school Speech Therapist.
Hannah Mikaela Kirby
Hannah Mikaela Kirby is graduating from Obra D. Tompkins High School. She plans to attend Sam Houston State University and major in Music Education. Hannah plans to become a high school Band Director.
Reagan Nattinger
Reagan Nattinger is graduating from Katy High School, will be attending Louisiana State University (LSU). She will be majoring in Music Education preparing to become a high school Choir Director.
Addison Poth
Addison Poth is graduating from Seven Lakes High School. She will be attending Texas A&M University pursuing her Education degree with focus in Elementary Education. She plans to become an elementary school Teacher.
Ashton Diane Poth
Ashton Diane Poth is graduating from Seven Lakes High School and will attend Texas A&M University majoring in Education. She would like to become an ELA Teacher at the elementary school level.
Corinne Slay
Corinne Slay is graduating from Mayde Creek High School. She will be attending Sam Houston State University pursuing her Education degree in the field of Composite Science. She plans to become a high school Life Science teacher.
