The family of the female student seen in the recent fight video continue to address the Katy ISD Board of Trustees. Many showed up at last night’s board meeting to support them in their hope for answers and to change the policy moving forward.

Katy parent Danny Gianfrancesco and his daughter, Brooklynn both spoke at last night’s Katy ISD Board of Trustees meeting. The Gianfrancescos want the investigation of the March 25, 2025 fight at Taylor High School to be reopened. They also want the policy to be reviewed in order to help families moving forward.
Gianfrancesco shared with Katy Magazine his concerns over the Districts lack of communication ahead of last night’s meeting.
“The District is not communicating with me at all. It’s ridiculous,” says Gianfrancesco. “The information that I requested the day after the fight they sent me all the documents and they are redacted except for my name and address.”
He and his daughter signed up to speak during the meeting and the video can viewed online.
“The very system that should support me is working against me,” says Danny Gianfrancesco. “Polices are not designed to help the parents but to protect the District. Staff make decisions under the blanket of confidentiality and parents have no recourse.”
Gianfrancesco spoke at last night’s board meeting on how hard it is for him to be asked why they haven’t pressed charges. Anytime Gianfrancesco speaks to local authorities, he is referred back to the Katy ISD police department. He hopes that the investigation can be reopened and considered for assault rather than mutual confrontation.
The fight that took place on March 25, 2025 at Taylor High School involved Brooklynn Gianfrancesco and a male student who has been confirmed to be on the Taylor High School football team. The video went viral as Gianfrancesco’s concern has now been featured on a national spotlight.
Brooklynn Gianfrancesco addressed the board last night and expressed her concern.
“I feel uncomfortable going to school because I feel like I have a target on my back since my Dad and are trying to get attention for was clearly an assault,” says Brooklynn. “what happened to me on March 25 would be an assault anywhere except for the school.”
Gianfrancesco stressed that she felt the person who was seen in the video slapping, hitting, and sitting on her should be in jail.
“I’m getting dirty looks from staff and students, and I don’t feel this is a safe environment for me anymore,” says Brooklynn Gianfrancesco.
Katy ISD has shared the following statement:
“The district is aware of the incident, which was investigated by law enforcement and remains an active case. Additionally, federal privacy laws prohibit us from sharing details regarding student discipline. The release of any additional information requires parental consent and is further restricted by the ongoing status of the case. The district does not condone the behaviors or actions involved.”
