Katy’s Central Green Park is a half-acre public park dedicated to giving Katy families events like fitness classes, free movie nights, live music, and more. The multi-purpose venue kicksoff their Summer Concert Series tonight.

Central Green Park's Summer Concert Series Starts Tonight

Relax and feel like you’re at the beach tonight with music from Reggae! Phil and Aubrey for the kickoff of the Central Green Park Summer Concert Series. All concerts are in the park located in at the south end of LaCenterra. The fun is free and all concerts can be enjoyed from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

This Summer is full of live music and a variety of fun events perfect for Katy couples and families alike.

“If you've been in sun or on the water, it's a perfect place to cool down at night in the summer breeze while listening to music or seeing a show,” says Yvonne Arceneaux, Willow Fork Drainage District’s Park Director.“The concerts are comprised of professional musicians giving you the opportunity to listen to top notch entertainment without spending a dime.”

Arceneaux started planning the park’s summer programming 6-12 months ago and says that there is a science to picking the events and schedule.

“While being creative is the largest part, I take in to account many factors including statistics, weather, budget, school calendars, holidays and much more,” says Arceneaux. “It's a lot of fun and worth every minute when I see the smiles on the green.”

Couples can enjoy a Date Night on July 8, 2023 and watch the movie, “Ticket to Paradise.”

“This is a time for couples to have a romantic evening under the stars,” says Arceneaux. “They can pick up dinner at one of the restaurants in LaCenterra or pack a picnic and enjoy dinner under the summer sky.”

Please note that no alcohol or glass is allowed at Central Green Park. Arceneaux also notes that “Ticket to Paradise” is rated PG-13, and that it is up to Katy parents if they want their children on the green or nearby patios during the film.

Popular Events Return to the Park

The Park is also bringing back two popular events sure to excite the Katy community.

August 5, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. is the annual Back to School Bash. This year they will have a Kids Band, Teen Band, and Young Adult Band rocking to music on the green. Kids can get their face painted, something cool from the balloon artist, and take pictures with several mascots.

One of Central Green Park’s signature events is their annual Bollywood Celebration. This year the event is set for August 12, 2023. Families can dance and learn some new moves in the high energy and interactive celebration.

Fitness Schedule, Storytime Continues this Summer

In addition to the exciting summer schedule, Katyites can still enjoy fitness classes on the green. Yoga is Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:00 a.m. and Tai Chi is Saturdays at 8:30 a.m.

Children can enjoy Storytime on the third Monday of each month at 10:00 a.m.

Texas weather can always change plans. Follow Central Green Park on social media to stay up on weather delays or cancelations.

“Where else can you catch Bollywood, celebrate Ibiza, listen to classic rock, jazz, country and Latin music? It just seems like magic to sit under the night sky and wind down your summer day,” says Arceneaux. “Central Green is a lot of fun and we offer something for everyone.”
