Katy oldest non-profit just opened their annual member-only Easter event to the public. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the city’s history and all that the Katy Heritage Society does. Members receive a discount to one of Katy’s most popular Easter event.

Experience Easter fun at its best at the annual EGGstravaganza hosted by the Katy Heritage Society. This year’s event is set for Friday, April 18, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (5990 George Bush Drive.)
“This is a fun-filled celebration that brings the community together in a beautiful, historic setting,” says Katy Heritage Society President Adrienne Davitz. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for families to create lasting memories while exploring the historic homes and learning about Katy’s rich heritage.”
This family event is fun for all ages with an Egg Hunt everyone can enjoy. There will be crafts, activities, a petting zoo and photo with the Easter Bunny in the historic Katy gazebo.
"The event supports the Katy Heritage Society's efforts to preserve and share the town's history, making it a meaningful way to celebrate the season," adds Davitz.
In previous seasons, this event has been for members of the Katy Historic Society and their families. However, this year the organization is opening the event to the public. Members do get a significant discount.
Tickets must be purchased in advance online. The member price is $5 a person. It’s $25 per family to become a member.
Since 1979, the society has worked to protect and preserve the historic resources of the Katy area.
The society formed after a group of concerned citizens met with the City of Katy and Union Pacific Railroad at the old MKT Depot in 1978. The depot was scheduled to be removed, but an agreement was made and the building was bought for $25. That group of citizens officially incorporated as the Katy Heritage Society the following April. The restored MKT Depot is now Katy’s beloved MKT Railroad Museum.
