Fort Bend County residents and businesses are asked to register their cameras with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office so that law enforcement will know what available footage they could request in the event of an incident.

“Connect Fort Bend can play a crucial role in solving crimes by providing a more rapid transmission of information and improving community engagement,” says Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan.

Fort Bend Connect is free and it takes less than a minute to register your security cameras.

Registering your cameras does not grant the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office access to your live video stream. It simply lets investigators know a camera is present at your location, allowing them to request video evidence if needed.

When an incident occurs, FBCSO will send out an Evidence Submission Request with instructions on how to submit evidence. According to Sheriff Fagan, this program has already led to the apprehension of criminals, information on their vehicles, and caught evidence of illegal activity.

Registering in the program is free and requires a valid email address, cell phone, and the number of cameras that you have.

Fort Bend County residents and businesses can take the program a step further if they want by integrating cameras, which allows FBCSO direct access to your camera feed in case of an emergency. This requires a small CORE device that will be plugged into your camera system.

FBCSO will only request footage if a crime has happened in the vicinity or in the case of a missing person.

Investigators hope that this program could play a key role in the case of a missing child or elderly Fort Bend County resident allowing investigators to quickly gain footage that could help a crisis end successfully.

Connect Fort Bend is a new program created to enable the people of Fort Bend County to help keep their community safe. Currently there are 469 registered camera and 33 integrated cameras.

“This is an effective tool against crime in our communities,” says Sheriff Fagan.
