Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call last night in the Lakes of Bridgewater community in Katy. A family disturbance escalated to a shooting that ended in a Katy’s man’s death.
A family disturbance escalated to a fatal shooting last night in Katy’s Lakes of Bridgewater neighborhood. Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call just after 7:00 p.m. and when they arrived a 22-year-old man was dead from a gunshot wound.
The incident occurred at the family home at 3800 block of Brighton Springs Lane. The victim was a grown son who lived at home and authorities stated that previous calls have been made regarding domestic disputes. It is believed that the individual had mental issues.
According to authorities, the son became “enraged” and began throwing bricks inside the home where he was four other adult relatives. At some point he went outside where he continued to get more upset and threw bricks and even broke windows of vehicles passing by.
During the argument, the father felt threatened and got out his gun. As the dispute continued to escalate a shot was fired. The unnamed 22-year-old son was pronounced dead by deputies upon their arrival. No other injuries were reported.
The incident is still under investigation.
