Harris County investigators are still working a case where a girlfriend shot her boyfriend yesterday in the Elyson community. The case shows another example of domestic violence, a crime that continues to rise in our area.

Â
Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call around 9:00 a.m. yesterday when a neighbor called reporting a shooting that took place at the 23700 Blackhaw Blossom Lane.
Â
The victim is a 45-year-old male and was shot once in the groin. He was transported before deputies arrived by either a friend or family member to a nearby hospital and was reported to be critical yet stable.
Â
He was shot by his 42-year-old girlfriend. The couple have lived in their home in the Elyson community for two and a half years. According to authorities, neighbors say there was a history of noise coming from the home.
Â
This case is still under investigation. Authorities did say that the altercation that led to the shooting occurred when the boyfriend tried to leave the house.
Â
Acts of domestic violence continue in increase throughout the country. According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, over 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in the U.S. have experienced a rape, physical violence and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime.
