Two Katy ISD student athletes won the UIL State Championship titles in wrestling. They both demonstrated exceptional skill but also embody the values of determination and sportsmanship that are cherished within our district.

Garrett McChesney from Jordan High School and Jackson Herman from Cinco Ranch High School both won the UIL State Championship titles in wrestling.
From Jordan High School, senior Garrett McChesney won the 138-pound weight class state championship over a field of competitors from all 6A schools in Texas. Garrett is a 3x State Finalist and a 2x State Champion.
"Garrett's relentless work ethic and passion for the sport have propelled him to this remarkable achievement,” says Jordan High School Wrestling Coach Michael White. “He also won the Most Outstanding Wrestler Award for the 6A Boys State Wrestling Tournament. He has shown tremendous growth and determination throughout the season, and we couldn't be prouder of his success and the legacy Garrett is leaving at Jordan High School."
From Cinco Ranch High School, senior Jackson Herman won the title in the 132-pound weight class.

"It has truly been a pleasure to coach Jackson these past four years,” says Cinco Ranch High School Wrestling Coach Bill Dushane. “This year was obviously very special. He has been on a mission since the end of last year, and he showed what true dedication can accomplish!”
Katy ISD says that the accomplishments of these athletes serve as inspirations to all student-athletes within the district who aspire to reach the pinnacle of their sport.
