5. Tompkins School

After the finals, the rankings and schools advancing are

1. Katy High School

3. Seven Lakes High School

5. Taylor High School

This marks the first time that the "Roarin' Band from Tigerland" (Katy High) has made it to state finals. Seven Lakes last made it to state competition in 2012. Taylor last competed in state in 2002.

"...KISD bands, AMAZING! They all gave 110%. This is my second year watching and I’ve seen good and bad performances by many schools including Katy. Yesterday, I’ve never seen KISD just leave it all out there on the field. Every single school was top notch. I was so nervous for the announcement of finals because all KISD schools performed their best ever.", said Melissa Crowder, parent of a Taylor High band member.

Parent of Katy High color guard member, Lauren Norvell said "They (the kids) work extremely hard, they practice in extreme heat, cold and rain. Practice is from 330 pm - 6 pm three days a week."

The 6A Marching band state competition will hold prelims on Monday, November 5 beginning at 8:30 am at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Finals will be Tuesday, November 6 from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM. This is the tentative schedule. Final schedule will be posted here, on Monday, October 29, after all bands have qualified.

BOX5-TV powered by BOX5 Media has contracted with UIL to provide live streaming for the event. For those wanting to attend live, tickets will be sold at the gate. Click here for ticket pricing, parking and stadium policies.
