Monday night, February 19, the Katy ISD School Board met for their work study meeting to discuss many topics including the results of the Instructional Calendar Survey and the Transportation Sustainability Survey.
As a part of the new district initiative "Your District, Your Voice", Katy voters were asked to participate surveys to help the district and school board reach a decision that would be the best approach for Katy ISD.
The choices that were presented to the public for the 2018-2019 calendar were:
Option 1: August 15 - May 23 with a week off for Thanksgiving Option 2: August 13 - May 22 with a week off for Thanksgiving Option 3: August 27 - June 4 with three days off for Thanksgiving
The Administration has recommended and the winning option for the voters as:
"Option 1: August 15 - May 23 with a week off for Thanksgiving".
The School Board will vote on the schedule at the board meeting on Monday, February 26.
The current bell schedule is as follows...
High School - 7:25 am to 2:35 pm
Junior High School 7:25 am to 2:35 pm
Elementary School 8:20 am to 3:40 pm
The Katy ISD Administration is recommending that the District maintain current ridership and move to a multi-bell schedule for the 2018-2019 school year as follows.
High School - 7:25 am to 2:35 pm
Elementary Group 1 - 8:00 am to 3:20 pm
Elementary Group 2 - 8:20 am to 3:40 pm
Junior High - 8:45 am to 3:55 pm
At the board meeting on Monday, February 26, the Katy ISD Board of Trustees will vote whether to accept the Administrative Recommndation or leave the schedule as is.
