Over $5,000 worth of tools and supplies were stolen out of an electrician’s truck from their Katy neighborhood driveway. Even with video, investigators say there isn’t enough information and the electrician hopes fellow Katy residents may know something.

On Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 6:00 a.m. two suspects were caught on a home security camera as they stole over $5,000 worth of out of a Katy electrician’s work truck. The Katy family who owns their own electrical company, lives in the Westfield community where the crime took place in their driveway.

“They broke my work van window and checked my truck at 6:00 a.m.,” says Vivi Garcia, who works for Anchor Technology and urges neighbors to check their security footage. “These people have no idea how much we work for our tools so they can sell them for $10.”

The Garcia family has lived here for three years and has never experienced anything like this. However, they do have a neighbor who was also a victim to a crime like this last November 29, 2024. In that video the thieves came out from a neighboring garage and it still wasn’t enough evidence to find them.

We do electrical work and they stole all my tools. Drills, batteries, electrical tools, pliers, wrenches, electric saws, and more,” says Garcia.

Anyone who has additional videos or information on this crime should contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office at 713-221-6000.

Local authorities urge residents to not leave anything of value visible in vehicles as thieves actively look for items to steal.
