A visually stunning production
The Morton Ranch High School Maverick Theatre company will showcase their bilingual talents and incorporate aerial choreography, intricate costume design, special make up techniques, and state of the art lighting and sound effects to tell the musical story of Miguel, a 12-year-old who flees a repressive military regime in Central America for Los Angeles.
Powerful and inspiring themes “What makes this show so important for our department and special for our students is the relevancy of the story. Not only does the script incorporate Spanish, but it highlights a heritage that is represented by our community, but that we don’t often get to see on stage. Our students and audiences can connect with the themes of regaining confidence and overcoming adversity and experience multi-cultural theatre- some for the first time.” said Alexis Gette.
Connecting through creativity
“I really think it is important for our students to see how theatre is a way of creatively connecting to our society and current events. It’s such an awesome thing as a director to see students from diverse backgrounds engaging in the process of learning the culture in the text and putting together a magical story for our audience members.”
They will also offer a variety of fun, interactive activities, merchandise, and an auction with student-created artwork during each show.
