A large fight broke Friday night that resulted in Typhoon Texas closing temporary until police got the situation under control.

A Friday night of fun at Typhoon Texas turned scary as numerous local law enforcement agencies responded to calls of a fight. Typhoon Texas is West Houston’s only waterpark located at 555 Katy Fort Bend next to Katy Mills Mall.

No Weapons Confirmed

According to Bernard Kaplan, a representative for Typhoon Texas, a disturbance broke out at Typhoon Texas at approximately 9:00 p.m. No weapons were reported or confirmed.

“A disturbance was caused by unruly guests violating our code of conduct,” says Bernard Kaplan. “The Katy Police Department escorted them off the premises.”

According to authorities, the waterpark was temporarily closed while police got the situation under control.

“At Typhoon Texas, we are committed to providing the best family experience, and the safety of our guests and team members is our highest priority,” says Kaplan. “Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”

The Only Waterpark in West Houston Has Excitement on the Horizon

At Typhoon Texas, guests enjoy acres of winding, twisting slide paths, Texas-size wave pool, lazy river the length of more than five football fields, and Typhoon Jr., junior-sized versions of the waterpark’s most popular waterslides.

Soon guests can celebrate the Fourth of July at Typhoon Texas’ annual Red, White & Boom in a full day of patriotic-themed games, live music, sky diving performance and more, all capped off by the City of Katy’s inspiring Freedom Celebration fireworks display.

Stilt walkers in patriotic costumes will walk around all day available for complimentary pictures. There will be a Fourth of July crafts while supplies last.

Later in the afternoon, guests can enjoy the high-flying Typhoon Texas Skydivers, weather and wind speed permitting.

At 9:00 p.m. the sky will light up with the City of Katy’s Freedom of Celebration. The show can be seen from waterpark or the parking lot.

The gates open for Red, White & Boom at 11 a.m. with extended hours until 10 p.m.
