Many Katy non-profit organizations are running low on supplies and the resources to support the people who count on them. Katy’s Clothed by Faith desperately needs donations of gently used clothes to help community members in need.

Local Non-Profits Making Changes During Pandemic

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Clothed by Faith, like many non-profit groups are altering hours, and limiting volunteers. While these restrictions help keep their staff safe, they have impacted the people in the community that they serve.

“We currently have a large number of requests from schools throughout Houston,” says Melinda Stephenson, Southeast Houston Branch Manager, Clothed by Faith. “We have a huge need for clothing donations, shoes, and new underwear and socks.”

Clothed by Faith offers gently used clothing to those in the greater Katy area experiencing poverty. They do so in the hopes of bringing more than clothing to those in need, but also a sense of dignity when they are experiencing trying times.

Donations Needed at Clothed by Faith:

Men’s clothing - all sizes

Ladies' clothing - medium and large

Kids' clothing - ages 8 and up

Donations can be dropped off at their Katy location:

802 Dominion Drive, located off Kingsland Blvd.

Monday to Thursday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Donation bins are available at the Dominion Drive location as well as:

Grace Presbyterian (bin is inside the church)

10221 Ella Lane, Houston

Current - A Christian Church

26600 Westheimer Parkway, Katy

When dropping off donations in the bins, Clothed by Faith requests that all items be bagged and labeled.

Clothed by Faith has made adjustments to their organization to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

“We are operating with a limited number of staff and volunteers because of the pandemic,” says Stephenson. “Also, we are closed on Fridays.”

Recently the organization partnered with the Junior League of Houston to donate clothes and socks to 220 children. They also arranged a drive-through pick-up.

Serving Katy Since 2013

Clothed by Faith was founded in 2013 by Abi Morton.

"After some research, it was a shock to discover just how big an issue poverty is right here on my own doorstep," says Abi Morton.

According to the Clothed by Faith website, 1 in 4 children in Harris County live below the federal poverty line. That is over 300,000 children in need.

Clothed by Faith currently serves over 63,000 clients. They operate 95% on volunteers and accept donations. The cost of a week’s worth of clothing is $25.
