Katy families can meet their favorite Houston athletes, including some from Katy, in a little over a week. Enjoy interviews, demos, music and local vendors. Big names from various professional sport teams including some Texans, Astros, NASCAR, and many more will be present.

Meet Top Athletes
The Willow Fork Drainage District's Central Green Park, located in LaCenterra, brings the community the annual H-Town Sports Day February 17, 2024 12:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. The popular event gives sports fans the chance to meet some of the biggest names in local sports. This free event is a not to miss.
"H-town Sports Day is an opportunity for you to meet professional athletes, and fitness experts. In addition, we will have games, activity booths, and team mascots,” says Yvonne Arceneaux, Willow Fork Drainage District’s Park Director. “Ty Hymel will bring his racecar! You will be able to take pictures with it and look inside."
Katy families can sign their kids up for the NFL Play 60 at 11:00 a.m. Play 60 will be led by the youngest NFL Draft pick, Amobi Okoye.
“Play 60 is an initiative from the NFL to get kids up, out and moving an hour per day,” says Arceneaux. “This fun, free program is also an opportunity for kids to ask professional athletes questions and get tips. Sign up is at 11am and starts promptly at 12pm. "
For five years, Central Green Park has brought top athletes to Katy where fans can greet them, and young athletes can learn more about the sports they love. Fans can learn training tips and, get autographs, and meet their favorite mascots.
“H-Town sports days gives me the opportunity to express my love and passion for racing to the entire city of Katy, it’s really amazing to go to this event, every single year and see all the people excited to look at The race car, climbing the race car take pictures with the race car,” says Katy resident and NASCAR race car driver Ty Hymel. “It really is amazing for us to be able to get back to our community in a way that really only racing can.”

“I love doing events in the Katy community because it gives me an opportunity to meet people in my community,” says Hymel. “And get people excited about racing in my community and really give back to the city. I love meeting new faces people that never even knew racing was a part of Katy, Texas and being able to bring that to them.”
Some exciting guests this year include Andre Johnson, who just got his Golden Jacket and is the 1st Texans in the NFL Hall of Fame. Also, Houston Astro Josh Reddick will at the event and is excited to offer advice and pointers.
“I think it is good to give children the opportunity to meet athletes one-on-one,” says Sydni Brown, co-owner of the Houston Phoenix Fire who are two-time champs of the Women’s Tackle Football League. “All athletes have different stories and many people don’t know that women can play football.”
Brown says that she loves seeing how her team inspires young girls. “They don’t have to be placed in a little box. We are inspiring a generation of athletes.”
Central Green Park asks for guests to bring pictures of athletes for autographs. They will not allow balls at the event, but baseball bats will be on sight to help players with critiques.
