Parade Sign-Up is Open

Sign-up for this year’s Katy Rice Festival Parade opened this week. Whether you’re a local business, community group, or simply love a good parade, the City of Katy wants you to be part of the excitement. It's only $25 to register to be part of the parade.

“The tradition of parades in this town runs deep,” says Adrienne Davitz, President of the Katy Heritage Society. “For many years, families have been lining up along the sides of our streets and waving at the parade entries as they make their way past them.”

Parade sign-up is open now through September 20, 2024 online.

The parade takes place ahead of the festival on October 5, 2024 in Old Katy. Learn more about the parade route here.

The Katy Rice Festival will be held this year the second weekend of October, October 12 and 13, 2024.

The Katy Rice Festival is the city’s most historic event that offers activities, live entertainment, a carnival, vendors, food trucks and more. This year marks the 44th year of the event that is known to bring in crowds from 45-50,000.

Celebrating 44 Years of Tradition

The Katy Rice Festival started in 1980 and was initially created to celebrate Katy's history and rice. Katy was known as the "Rice Capital of the World" and the remnants of that history can still be seen from I-10 in the form of the rice silos among the town's commercial growth and development.

"The Katy Rice Festival is an amazing charitable event since all net proceeds will be donated to Katy students and charities through scholarships and donations by our partners at the Rotary Club of Katy," says City of Katy Mayor Dusty Thiele.

“Katy Rice Festival is a tradition that is both famous and fun in the Katy area and beyond,” says Mayor Pro Tem Chris Harris. “This year we will have new attractions back, including the carnival, good small-town fun for all.”

All proceeds benefit the Katy community. Stay tuned for more information soon regarding vendor and volunteer sign up.

“We are thankful for the City of Katy for making sure this tradition is kept alive,” says Davitz.
