Katy ISD Teacher Stabbed to Death by Husband

A Katy ISD teacher was stabbed to death by her husband yesterday morning. He is now in custody and charged with murder. UPDATE: Her husband was pronounced dead after being found unresponsive in his jail cell this morning.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call at the 3200 block of Painted Meadow Circle near Fry Road around 8:19 a.m. yesterday, May 20, 2022. This is near the Silvermill subdivision.
Husband Called 911 After Stabbing
39-year-old Benjamin Pierce called 911 and then told deputies that he had stabbed his wife, Leslie Ann Pierce.
Leslie Pierce, 39-year-old was found by deputies in her foyer and pronounced dead at the scene. The couples 7-year-old son was in the home, but it is not clear if he witnessed the murder. The child is reported to not have been physically harmed and is now with family.
Victim was a Special Education Support Teacher
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed that Leslie Pierce was a Katy ISD employee. According to a Katy ISD directory, Leslie Pierce was a special education in-class support paraprofessional at Haskett Junior High.
Benjamin Pierce was taken into custody and charged with murder. This morning Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reported that he had been pronounced dead after being found unresponsive in his jail cell.

According to authorities, the couple had been arguing about divorce and child custody at the time of the assault.
Sheriff Gonzalez states that an independent agency will investigate the death in accordance with state law related to any jail bested death of someone in custody.
