The Katy ISD Board of Trustees met in a special meeting yesterday. They voted unanimously to approve a mid-point pay grade increase for District teachers, hourly employees, and all other employees for the 2022-2023 school year.
Board Approves 5% and 3% Pay Increases
The Katy ISD Board of the Trustees voted to approve a 5% pay grade increase for all District classroom teachers as well as hourly employees. A 3% increase was also approved for all other Katy ISD employees for the 2022-2023 school year.
“As a Board, it’s a priority to invest in our hardworking staff and maintain competitive salaries to attract and retain high-quality employees,” says Lance Redmon, Katy ISD Board Vice President.
Katy Starting Teacher Salary One of Highest in Region
Classroom teachers will see an increase of $3,600, while the starting pay for a new teacher will be $60,700. Katy ISD offers one of the highest starting teacher salaries in the region.
“Our employees have demonstrated an inspiring resilience over the last two years and consistently ensure that our students have access to resources and opportunities for success,” says Redmon.
The pay increase does extend to school bus drivers as everyone who works within Katy ISD will see a pay increase.
Still, many teachers took to social media to point out that those who have been teaching with the District for years make nowhere near to what newly hired teachers are being offered.
Katy ISD is Actively Hiring
