Normal School Schedule
Katy ISD’s Paetow High School and Stockdick Junior High are operating on a regular instructional day schedule today after a threat to both schools yesterday was found to be “unfounded.” Neither school changed their schedules yesterday as the investigation was going on, although several parents picked students up from school.
Threat Reported Through District App
Katy ISD police were informed yesterday about a threat of a shooting that involved both schools. The threat was reported anonymously through the District's SpeakUp app. The District reports that their police and administration investigated the threats and found that they were “unfounded and posed no threat to the campuses, students or staff.”
Paetow High School nor Stockdick Junior High were never evacuated or put on lockdown.
Throughout the day Tuesday, parents took to social media to share concerns. The District released a statement yesterday at 5:04 p.m.
Statement from Katy ISD:
Dear Bethke, Stockdick JH and Paetow HS Parents/Guardians,
As you may be aware, campus administration and Katy ISD police were informed of some rumored threats against Paetow High School and Stockdick Junior High today. Katy ISD police and administration investigated the threats and determined that they were unfounded and posed no threat to the campuses, students or staff.
We want to assure the community that the safety and security of our students is our number one priority. Although multiple students were checked out of school today, Bethke Elementary, Stockdick JH and Paetow HS remained on schedule through dismissal. Additionally, tomorrow, September 29, is a regular instructional day and all student events remain on schedule.
Please know, if there is ever a credible concern for student safety, the District and campus administration will always notify parents. Additionally, parents are always encouraged to speak with campus leadership whenever you have questions about your student or campus, as this is always the best way to ensure you receive factual information.
As a reminder, students, staff and community play an important role in keeping our schools safe by reporting potential threats or safety issues. In addition to reporting information to school or law enforcement officials, students and parents can also utilize the Katy ISD mobile app, SpeakUP, to anonymously report tips.
With your help, we can effectively continue our commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all students.
