Katy ISD’s Miller Career & Technology Center to Host Family Tour Days

Katy ISD’s Miller Career & Technology Center will host several Family Tour Days to educate and answer questions for Katy students grades 7-11. The center is a hidden gem for Katy residents who seek inexpensive services in car service, beauty shop, pet salon and more. Utilizing such services helps students learn.

Katy Students Learn through Real-World Experiences

Katy ISD’s Miller Career & Technology Center (MCTC) offers specialized Career and Technical Education courses not available at our Katy ISD high school campuses. The MCTC’s mission is to develop college and career-ready students through engaging real-world experiences. They are hosting six Family Tour Days this fall to introduce families of Katy students in grades 7-11 to their programs.

 “We have a wide selection of CTE programs in Katy ISD, something to meet nearly every student’s interest,” says Jeannie Knierim, Director of Career and Technical Education in Katy ISD. “The Family Tour Days provide our students and families with the chance to see our state-of-the-art facility that can support their interests and goals.”

Family Tour Days

• Saturday, September 28 – 9:00-10:30 a.m. & 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

• Tuesday, October 8 – 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.

• Wednesday, October 9 – 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.

• Saturday, October 12 – 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. & 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

• Tuesday, November 12 – 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.

• Wednesday, November 13 – 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.

  
  

Sign-Up for Tours Online

Students in grades 7-11 and their parents will be able to tour the Center and learn about the District’s CTE programs over the dates below. Families can sign up here for a tour date. Some dates have filled up, so interested families are encouraged to not wait to sign up for this opportunity.

The Miller Career & Technology Center serves as a central site for the District’s career and technical education (CTE) courses not offered at students’ home campuses, designed for juniors and seniors. Katy ISD offers courses in the following areas:

• Architectural Design

• Automotive Technology

• Cisco Network Engineering

• Clinical Rotations

• Computer Technician

• Construction Trades

• Cosmetology

• Culinary Arts

• Cyber Security

• Dental Assisting

• Digital Audio

• Education & Training

• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

• Film

• Law Enforcement

• Legal Studies

• Manufacturing Engineering

• Pharmacy Tech

• Practicum in STEM

MCTC’s unique classes allow students to see if they truly like a field before committing to a college major. It also allows them to get hands-on and real world experience. Students can still participate in extracurriculars at their home campuses such as football, band, dance team, etc.

Programs Offer Inexpensive Services to the Community

Also, this fall, the Center’s Enterprise Businesses will be open to the community. The Garage, Dog Wash and Salon provide services to patrons for affordable prices. This is a great opportunity for the community to benefit from these services while giving students hands-on, real world experiences.

Learn more about Katy ISD’s Miller Career & Technology Center online. Enrollment for the 2025-2026 academic year will open sometime in January, but now is a great time for families to learn about these unique and exciting programs.
