Many sports programs in Katy ISD have gained national attention. These teams benefit from coaches who train student athletes, and serve as role models to students. An esteemed group of these leaders have been recognized by the District as the 2019-20 Coaches of the Year, and the Athletic Trainer of the Year.
Recipients of the Katy ISD Coach of the Year Award are nominated by their peers. Coaches can nominate a coach on their campus or other campuses for consideration. A committee within the Athletic Department reviews the nominations and selects the winner for each category.
“Katy ISD has some of the best coaches from across the nation,” said Debbie Decker, Executive Director of the Katy ISD Athletics Department. “Our coaches help athletes and students reach their full potential, both physically and emotionally, which encourages students to become confident individuals in society.”
