Katy ISD Assistant Principal Charged with Assaulting a Student

A Katy ISD assistant principal for Mayde Creek High School has been charged with assaulting a student. The former employee is charged of an incident that occurred at school earlier this month.



Adrian Lee Berg, 45, has been charged with assaulting a student at Mayde Creek High School. The incident occurred on October 3, 2024 around 7:15 a.m. Katy ISD has confirmed that Berg is no longer employed with the school district.



 

According to court records and witnesses, Berg is accused of choking a 14-year-old student by placing his arm around her neck and slammed her to the ground.

 

A school officer was present just before the incident when he reported two students were in a heated conversation. The officer said that Berg approached the student after the students broke up and prevented her from leaving when she tried to. The officer radioed the school nurse after Berg took her to the ground. Throughout the incident, the student was also reported to have run into a brick column hitting her head.

 

Katy ISD is not able to provide further details on the incident at this time but has shared the following statement:



"The individual is not employed with the district and resigned on October 8. Harris County is the lead agency on the investigation. We are unable to provide additional information at this time. In Katy ISD, providing a safe and secure learning environment is and will continue to be our top priority and we will always act swiftly when that is comprised." 

 

Berg was interviewed by law enforcement and admitted to being involved in the altercation, but denied using excessive force.
