A Katy family lost their home and all belongings last night because of a lightning strike. Fortunately, all four family members and their dogs got out unharmed. The community is rallying to help them in their time of need.

Lightning Strike Destroys Katy Home
During last night’s storm, a lightning bolt struck a propane tank in the backyard of the Provost home in the Katy Lake subdivision. The house and all its contents are a total loss.

"We were laying in bed asleep and heard a boom," says KaNisha Provost. "We went outside and discovered lightning had hit our home and attacked the propane tanks and caused the fire to spread."
The homeowner says It took firefighters close to an hour to arrive, but the family is very gracious for the help from Waller-Harris ESD 200 specifically Chief Harrington.
Fortunately, the family of four and their two dogs got out unharmed. They do need help though getting back on their feet.
The Katy Lakes community and neighboring subdivisions like Elyson were quick to respond to offer aid to the Provost family.

Praise for the Community
“Your kindness and willingness to lend a hand speak volumes about your character,” says Provost. “The gesture of kindness made a significant impact on our day and we are fortunate to have such loving and caring neighbors.”
The Provost family is currently in need of toiletries, gift cards for clothing, and dog food (Purina 1.) The married couple has two children; a son (23) and a daughter (18,) who is currently attending Prairie View A&M.
The family is asking for prayers, advice, and whatever people can give “including a hug.”
The Provost family home is on Argonne Forest in the Katy Lakes subdivision. They are waiting to see where they will be placed as they continue to cope with this loss.
