Katy Facilities Open Supervised Virtual Learning Centers to Help Working Parents

Will your child need support with their virtual education when school resumes for the 2020-21 academic year? How will you juggle work, and caring for younger children, during online school days? Many local businesses have added programs to give students, and parents, a hand with instruction outside of the traditional classroom.

As families prepare for the start of the 2020-21 academic school year, many parents are reviewing online learning options for their children. Instruction during the coronavirus pandemic presents many challenges, and several Katy businesses have developed plans to eliminate some of the obstacles. Their goal - to support students with safe learning environments that help them keep on task.

Katy Gymnastics and Sports Performance

2020-2021 Supervised Online Learning Katy Gymnastics and Sports Performance (KGSP) will offer a safe environment for students to complete their online instruction while providing them the opportunity to socialize in small groups.

KGSP will provide supervision of daily learning activities and a daily PE activity, and certified teachers will be available for tutoring and extra help. KGSP recommends the “Texas Connections” curriculum which follows the Texas TEKS. Families are responsible for the curriculum, and furnishing the child’s laptop for instruction. Students will need to bring a lunch (no nuts allowed).

School-age/Full-day Program

Kids ‘R’ Kids will offer a full-day program for elementary students from Kindergarten to fifth grade to participate in distance learning in a safe, fun, supervised environment. Engaged teachers will be on-site to oversee the students in a managed classroom setting.

Instructors will provide support so students can stay connected with their classroom teacher(s) and engaged with their daily assignments.

• Extended hours from 6:30a.m. – 6:30p.m.

On Track Program Now Enrolling

My Place Early Learning Center will facilitate Katy Virtual Academy on-site. Their two locations offer a safe environment for children to continue their education in small learning groups outside of the classroom. They will ensure Zoom attendance, provide homework help and promote assignment completion. In addition, the staff will coordinate social times, and play and meal breaks.

Katy Sportz Academy

Katy Sportz Academy offers a service to bridge the gap between virtual online schooling and fitness enrichment for students in grades 5 - 12, per 6-week duration. They will provide an onsite academic advisor to assist children with academic support, expert basketball skills programming, as well as individual strength and conditioning activities for all sports performance.

In addition, Katy Sportz Academy is providing an on-site Home School P.E. class to all participants Monday-Friday from 12-1p.m.
