Katy Drug Bust Sends Infant to Hospital

A Katy drug bust at the 21500 block of Park Row resulted in an arrest and an infant girl being sent to the hospital after authorities were concerned over her well-being. She has since then been released with a clean bill of health.

Shawn Sunstrom was arrested Monday and charged with two felonies.

After a month-long investigation by Constable Heap’s Narcotics Unit authorities arrested Shawn Sunstrom, 30, on Monday and charged him with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

During the search deputies found the suspect's fiance' and their three month old baby girl, who was in a room full of filled with marijuana smoke. CPS and EMS were both notified and came to the scene. After an examination at a local hospital the little girl was cleared of drug exposure and released.

Deputies confiscated a variety of illegal drugs found inside his apartment: 97 grams of Xanax, 41 doses of LSD, 16 grams of mushrooms, 5 grams of crystal meth, 20 grams of ecstasy pills, 220 grams of marijuana and 8 grams of THC cannabis oil.

Sunstrom has a long criminal history of drug arrests, is being held at the Harris County Jail on $20,000 bond.
