Katy Couple Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

A married Katy couple were found dead over the weekend of an apparent murder-suicide, a crime that continues to rise in America.

Harris County Sherriff’s Office deputies responded to a call in from family for a welfare check on Saturday. The call came in around 4:00 p.m. and deputies arrived to the Emory at West Cypress Apartments at 19770 Clay Road in Katy around 4:30 p.m.



 

At the scene they found a couple dead of apparent gunshot wounds.

 

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez first shared the developing story on social media.

 


 Incident Ocurred Friday Night

After further investigation, deputies believe that the incident happened around 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024.

 

According to authorities, the couple, a woman (52-years-old) and a man (48-years-old,) were married and originally from Cuba. Reports indicate that they were married for about nine years but living separately.  

 

The incident is still under investigation, but authorities believe that this is was a case of murder-suicide, where the husband shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself.

 

Murder-suicide crimes continue to rise across America. The Violence Police center reports that 11 murder-suicides happen across America weekly. These crimes often stem from a history of domestic violence.

 

According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. The Katy area has several resources available to anyone in need or anyone who may suspect a family member or friend is a victim of this violence.
