Members of the Katy community have rallied behind the Mills family to pray for their 17-year-old son Sam. The Tompkins High School senior sustained serious injuries in a car accident Saturday night, and he is currently in the ICU at Memorial Hermann Downtown.

Around 10:30 p.m on Saturday, December 26, Sam Mills was driving home alone after his shift at the Chick-fil-A by Katy Mills Mall. At the Katy-Flewellen/Spring Green roundabout, authorities report the young man's vehicle rolled multiple times and he was ejected from it. He was life-flighted to Memorial Hermann Downtown.
Sam is a senior at Tompkins High School and a wide receiver on the Falcons football team.
Community Gathers to Pray
Last night, a candlelight vigil was held at the Chick-fil-A where Sam works. Family members, classmates, and members of the Katy community joined in prayer to show their support for Sam.
Falcons Family Shows Support
Yvonne Wall, of Katy, said a helpless feeling accompanies a tragedy like this. However, she said the Tompkins High School moms immediately jumped into action to plan the best way to help the Mills family.
"Within an hour or so, we had coordinated donation efforts, posted on social media, and started text prayer chains," says Yvonne Wall.
The compassionate group of Tompkins moms has requested donations of gift cards to provide meals for the Mills family and set up a Venmo account for monetary donations to help with parking, lodging, and incidental costs.
"But most importantly, we are praying for Sam, his family, and all of the people caring for him," says Wall. "Sam is Falcon strong!"
Making Donations
The Chick-fil-A, at 25601 Nelson Way, (where Sam works) has agreed to be a drop site for gift cards.
For additional gift card drop sites, to provide meals, and a Go Fund Me donation option, visit the newly-established Facebook page “Stand With Sam.”
To make a monetary contribution to aid the Mills family, scan the QR code here to access a Venmo account in Sam's mother's name.
"Our Falcon family is praying without ceasing for Sam’s full recovery," says Wall.
