Non-Profit Increases Turkey Goal
Last year, Katy Christian Ministries (KCM) distributed 1,131 turkeys/hams to local families in need. They have raised their goal for this year to 1, 200 in order to serve the growing need of the Katy community.
“Basic needs assistance is on a rise due to the pandemic,” says Deysi Crespo, KCM Executive Director. “Therefore, we do anticipate to reach our projected 1,200 families we are striving to serve with turkeys/hams.”
According to Crespo, the non-profit is providing assistance to an average of 85 families per day.
“To put it into perspective, in only one moth alone- KCM Social Services provided assistance to 1,399 families from July to August. 2021,” says Crespo. “This is only a small glimpse of the needs in our community, in which KCM has already provided a total of $ 477,199 in financial assistance from January-August 2021.”
Such assistance helps to prevent homelessness and keeps utilities on for these families suffering economic hardships.
Katyites can help local families in need all have a turkey or ham for this Thanksgiving by donating to KCM’s A Turkey for Every Table program.
