A carjacking that originated from a Katy Walmart resulted in a police chase yesterday that ended at Buc-ee’s. There was a child in the vehicle, but authorities report that the child was unharmed.
Carjacking a Result of Domestic Dispute
A carjacking occurred yesterday at the Katy Walmart at the 27700 block of the Katy Freeway. The incident involved a man and a woman who has been estranged for a month. A child was in the vehicle at the time the incident.
This domestic dispute resulted in a car chase that ended at the Buc-ee’s in Katy. Authorities said the dispute was over child custody.
According to Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the child that was in the vehicle was found safe. The man is currently detained and facing a charge of aggravated robbery for taking the vehicle.
Domestic violence disputes continue to rise in the Greater Houston area. According to Crime Stoppers, since 2019 domestic violence reports have increased by over 15%. The number one motive for murders/homicides in Texas is being killed by an intimate partner.
