Safety Festival Happening this Saturday

This Saturday, September 28, 2024 is the 9th annual Katy Area Safety Fest, an event that fosters a sense of community while promoting safety awareness. 28 local, state, and national agencies are set to attend and host a variety of hands-on safety activities and demonstrations in addition to 20 sponsors and 18 nonprofits.

New Location

This year, the event will be held at Typhoon Texas Waterpark (555 Katy Fort Bend Rd. Katy, TX 77494) and admission is free. While the waterpark will be closed, families can still find plenty of fun. The event is from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will be a day full of interactive learning and entertainment for the entire family.

"We’re excited to partner with Typhoon Texas Waterpark for this year’s Safety Fest," says Johnny Mitchell, Board President. "The venue provides a dedicated space to enhance our safety education and ensure fun for the whole family. We’re looking forward to a day that brings the community together for an enjoyable and impactful experience."

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on safety demonstrations, meet local first responders, and explore a variety of safety-related exhibits. Highlights include:

  • Learn essential safety skills from professionals in a dynamic, hands-on environment.

  • Meet and interact with first responders and community safety experts.

  • Tour fire trucks, police cars, and helicopters

  • Exciting prizes and giveaways will be available throughout the event.

  • Learn CPR, Stop the Bleed, and other lifesaving courses

Heart Screenings

In partnership with the Cody Stephens Foundation, attendees ages 11-24 can get a free heart screening to help prevent sudden cardiac arrest in young athletes. The first 100 screenings are FREE! After that, each screening is just $20 per person. This is a great opportunity for Katy families to prioritize heart health.

This is a great opportunity for families to meet their first responders and ask questions that could prevent disaster. For nine years, Katy Area Safety Fest has brought together all kinds of first responders and agencies in an event that informs Katy families through fun and interactive activities.
