After a decade of serving the Katy homeless, Hope Impacts is moving to a larger location to better meet the ongoing need. Their new space will allow them to better serve and offer new programs, but they seek community volunteers.
10 Years of Service
Hope Impacts has been serving Katy’s homeless population for 10 years. Homelessness is a problem many cities face and this Katy based nonprofit gets no state funding to help. They run entirely on community donations and volunteers. For over a year they have struggled in their current space and are now able to move to better help those they serve and to grow the programs they are known to offer.
The Katy based non-profit is focused on giving hope and dignity to locals facing homelessness. Hope impacts founder and Executive Director Tina Hatcher says that the numbers of homeless continues to grow, but their programs help. In their time serving, Hope Impacts has been responsible for helping over 300 people get off the streets and into better lives.
For over a year they have struggled in their current space and are now able to move to better help those they serve and to grow the programs they are known to offer. They are moving from 802 Dominion Dr. Suite 900 to 3115 N Fry Rd Suite 404. They hope to be operational by February 1, 2025.
“Because we know relationships and community change lives, we want to create an atmosphere of community where we serve our participants,” says Tina Hatcher.
Their Supper and Showers program at Crossroad Church (700 Westgreen) will continue to be every Tuesday and Thursday night from 5-7:30 p.m.
The new space is 3000 square feet that includes a large multi-purpose space that can be set up in a number of ways to accommodate fellowship, learning, support groups of various needs. There the community can come together to offer education and training classes that can help those who seek help to get off the streets.
“Our goal is to have volunteers, partners, donors, staff, and participants in a space that is welcoming, comfortable, intentional, and serves multiple purposes at once,” says Hatcher. “Optimally we want everyone to be learning new skills and being instructed by leaders in various fields with different experiences in our community.”
The new space also has a computer room that will have eight computers where people can work and learn, better kitchen and bathroom space, and more space to hold donations.
“Although there are no shelters in the communities we serve, we do what we can to build relationships, offer a safe community, and assess each person's situation to be able to give resources, referrals and opportunities to help them improve their challenging situations,” says Hatcher.
Hope Impact’s office is currently closed through the first of the year but you can learn more about their programs and how to get involved through making donations or volunteering on their website.
Hope Impacts needs more volunteers so they can be able to meet more needs and offer more services. They also want to offer an outreach program which reaches people on the streets.
“As more and more people experiencing homelessness come to us we want to not only meet basic needs but create a pathway of success, which takes them from homeless to housed and from stigmas to stories,” says Hatcher.
