Celebration of Life to Honor Katy High School Senior Alana Rodriguez

Alana Scarlett Merlene Rodriguez was born on September 7, 1999 in Weatherford, Texas. She was killed in a vehicle accident on February 24 in Fairfield, Texas.

Alana attended Katy Elementary, Katy Junior High and Katy High School, where she was a senior.

Alana was a member of Second Baptist Church West Campus, where she had been a Giggle team member working with younger children.

As word spread of Alana's passing, those grieving took to social media to pay tribute to Alana’s spirit of love and giving.

"Alana was a special person who made an impact on our family. Alana had a bright, bubbly personality that was contagious. She was a joy to have around. We’ll always treasure the fun times and memories made with Alana, and will miss her dearly." - Love, Alicia “Momma A”, Emilie, Katie and Randy" "My daughter and Alana were good friends and had hoped to go to Prom as a group with other friends. She stood up to another young lady who was bullying my daughter in their class( what the bully said was so awful ). I am very thankful and grateful to Alana for standing with my daughter. I do know that Alana encouraged my daughter to pursue her dream of going to a private college in Oregon. My daughter was nervous about applying because it was far away, expensive, and it would be going against what her dad said about going to college in Texas. She would congratulate my daughter in each acceptance letter and scholarship package she was offered. Alana would remind her that to be hopeful that she, Katie, would hear from Linfield - when the weeks and months would pass on by. Finally when Katie did hear from Linfield and got her amazing package it was Alana who told her that she knew Katie would be accepted. She told, my daughter, she was smart and can do anything she sets her mind to it." - Alisa K.

Several former teachers also had very fond memories of having Alana in their class.

Alana is survived by her mother, Johana Rodriguez; brothers, Charles Frausto and Jeremiah Reyna; and grandparents, Joseph F. and Susana Thielen.

Celebrating Alana's Life

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Schmidt Funeral Home East Avenue Chapel, in Katy. There will be a memorial service at Second Baptist Church West Campus, 19449 Katy Fwy., Houston, TX 77450 at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 3.
