A body and truck matching that belonged to Katy missing man Floyd Hayes has been found at Cullen Park. The investigation is pending an autopsy to identify the body and cause of death.

On Sunday, January 30, 2022, park personnel at Cullen Park on Saums Road and Barker Cypress notified authorities of a vehicle that hasn't moved in several days. The truck matches that of the one belonging to missing Katy man, Floyd "Man" Hayes.

Body Found in Truck A body was found wrapped in the bed of the pickup truck. Authorities said that the body was unrecognizable and that the investigation is pending autopsy results that will identify the body and cause of death.
Floyd was last seen on January 22, 2022.
“Nothing could tear him away from his babies,” says his wife, Kristina Schmelter. But something did on January 22, 2022.
Floyd was injured helping a friend repair a trailer on January 22. He first attended his great nieces birthday party before going to a local Katy ER for medical attention.
Floyd was treated and given morphine for his injury. He gave up waiting on a friend to pick him up and left the ER to go get his medication at the 24-hour Walgreens pharmacy on Mason Road.
Floyd then was seen on video getting something to eat at Ray’s Restaurant at 10:15 p.m. that night.
According to his family, the last known cell phone ping was reported back at his friends house on Sunrise Drive between 10:40 p.m. and 10:59 p.m.
Floyd Hayes attended Katy High School Class of '77 and was a star on the baseball team. He’s lived in Katy his entire life and is happy to be raising his family and grandbabies here.
This is an ongoing investigation.
