The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent home burglary that resulted in the death of the Katy homeowner.
Looks Like a Burglary
Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to an apparent home invasion in the early hours of Tuesday, October 16. The house is located at the 6900 block of Glen Rosa, near Cansfield Way in Katy's Hickory Creek subdivision. This is a five minute drive from Seven Lakes Junior High.
Homeowner Shot and Killed
Detectives are investigating the incident. According to authorities the family was asleep when they heard a window shatter in the back of the house. The father and victim Brenton Estorffe, 29, went to investigate and that's when shots were fired and he was killed. His wife and two young children were in the house at the time. The suspect fled the scene.
House in Hickory Creek
FBCSO issued a brief statement of the incident on their official Facebook page. Comments quickly started reporting the incident having happened in Seven Meadows. Authorities were quick to correct those comments saying the incident took place in Hickory Creek, not Cinco Ranch or Seven Meadows.
"It (Hickory Creek) was there long before Seven Meadows was even planned," says FBCSO.
Authorities Seek Public's Help
Authorities said someone saw a vehicle nearby, so officials are working to gather as much information as they can on the potential lead.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office at 281-341-4665 or the county Crime Stoppers at 281-342-8477.
