The Katy Heritage Society welcomes Katy residents to attend their general membership meeting this Thursday, September 26 at 7:00pm. Join them at the Stockdick House at Katy Heritage Park and learn how they help protect and preserve the historic resources of the Katy area.

The Katy Heritage Society invites everyone interested in joining the society to attend the general membership meeting tomorrow night. The meeting will focus on fun activities the society has planned for the rest of the year. Plus, new members will be entered into a November drawing for a gift basket.

The group works with the City of Katy to preserve and maintain The Katy Heritage Park, where the Heritage Society Railroad Museum is located. Society members, as well as local volunteers, greet guests and provide educational tours to park visitors.

40 Years of Restoring Katy

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Katy Heritage Society. Since 1979, the society has worked to protect and preserve the historic resources of the Katy area.

The society formed after a group of concerned citizens met with the City of Katy and Union Pacific Railroad at the old MKT Depot in 1978. The depot was scheduled to be removed, but an agreement was made and the building was bought for $25. That group of citizens officially incorporated as the Katy Heritage Society the following April. The restored MKT Depot is now Katy’s beloved MKT Railroad Museum.
