On Wednesday, August 14, Katy ISD will welcome over 81,000 students for the 2019-20 school year. To streamline the registration process, the district has established a new online enrollment system, PowerSchool.

The district’s revamped student enrollment system, PowerSchool, provides parents/guardians a quick and easy way to register their students, while reducing the expense of printing and entering forms for over 80K students.

“We want everyone’s registration process to be as smooth as possible,” says Chief Information Officer Dr. John Alawneh.

New Student Registration Now Open

Katy ISD school registration began on July 15th for all new Katy ISD students. A new student is defined as new to the district and having never attended a school in Katy ISD, or a previous Katy ISD student who withdrew and is re-enrolling. Parents/guardians of new students will still be required to visit their child’s designated campus to submit certain documentation, such as proof of residency and vaccination records.

For specific information on registration and immunization requirements, please visit the Katy ISD website.

Confirming School Campus

Attendance zone information for all Katy ISD schools can be found by using the Student Assignment by Residential Address (SARA) application or mobile app. This app provides the ability to search by a specific address, or you can select any campus to see what subdivisions and apartment complexes it serves.

Returning Student Registration

All Katy ISD students are required to enroll, or update their information, for the new school year using the online registration system.

On August 1, annual student updates begin (for current Katy ISD students). Parents/guardians will receive a unique SnapCode, for each student currently enrolled in Katy ISD, at the email address on file. Note: Individual SnapCodes will be sent in batches by last name to all current Katy ISD students. Notifications should be received by August 2. If you do not have an email address on file, a letter will be mailed to you.

Accessing the new online registration is easy. Look for the PowerSchool icon on the upper right-hand side of any Katy ISD campus webpage.

“Online registration is not only a quick and easy option for parents who have new or returning students,” says Alawneh. “It’s cost effective and allows the district to cut back on the unnecessary expense of sending hard copies home with students.”
