Aristoi Classical Academy is hosting this year’s fundraiser, Chip & Sip at Topgolf, 1030 Memorial Brook Blvd., Houston, TX, on Wednesday, April 10th from 5-8 PM. The event is not just for golfers, but for anyone to enjoy a night out and raise money for the K-12 free, public charter school.
As a charter school, Aristoi Classical Academy receives funding from the state under a formula that pays the school an amount per pupil based on average daily attendance. This amount is 28.2% lower than the per-pupil amount paid to Katy Independent School Districts. Additionally, charter schools are not allowed to fund facilities through taxpayer-approved bonds; consequently, charters must pay for all spending including for facilities.
Natalie DeJong, Aristoi’s Development Director, says, “Aristoi is growing and we need further services to help the children receive the most enriching classical education possible. Aristoi families constantly give of their time and talents. We’re reaching out to the community and asking for their help as well. The education our scholars receive is challenging and is more than information, it’s formation, which will help them achieve their full potential as students and virtuous citizens as well.”
“The funds we raise will help Aristoi to form tomorrow’s leaders by teaching the skills of critical thinking and persuasive verbal and written communication,” states Joshua and Bethany Wall, Co-Chairs of the event. “Aristoi pairs rigorous academic instruction with an emphasis on building character and embracing timeless values such as respect, temperance, service, and honesty.”
This year’s Gold Sponsor is Forney Construction; Bronze Sponsors are Bluewater Constructors, HJ Sims, and Children’s Lighthouse - Kingsland. The Honorary Chair of the event is Tom Forney.
