Katy ISD announced the launch of the Legacy Parent Academy in September. An initiative created to equip all parents with tools to provide additional support to their children. The program invites experts to speak about topics that impact students and schools district-wide such as financial aid for college, mental health resources and bullying.

The Legacy Parent Academy Information

The Legacy Parent Academy is a series of informational sessions specifically designed to assist parents by providing valuable information that relates to topics that go beyond the academic experience.

Katy ISD Legacy Parent Academy's goal is to equip parents with strategies and techniques to support their students. All parents and guardians of Katy ISD students are welcome to attend. “We will actively support the emotional well-being of all learners.”

"Legacy Parent Academy is a new initiative designed as part of the District's Strategic Plan Goal 8, which focuses on supporting the emotional well-being of all learners," said Director of Counseling Services Christy Maeker. "This is a great opportunity to provide parents with information and strategies to assist their children," added Maeker.

Guest Speakers and Presenters

The 2018-19 sessions will feature presentations from experts in topics that address emotional well-being, college preparedness, and college financial aid. Registration for each session will open two weeks prior to the event.

Legacy Parent Academy's topics of each session were selected based on the need expressed by parents and in response to concerns the District sees on campuses and the community. Katy ISD is working with local media partners to promote and cover these sessions, which can be found on the district's Legacy Parent Academy website.

Upcoming 2018-19 sessions. Please note that registration is required for several of these presentations.
