Texas A&M suspended freshman guard Jay Jay Chandler (Cinco Ranch High School) and cut freshman guard J.J. Caldwell (Cypress Wood High School) from the team after they were arrested on charges of misdemeanor marijuana possession on Sunday.

Chandler and Caldwell were charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and Caldwell was also given a citation for speeding. Caldwell was cut from the team due to additional previous team violations, but Chandler is only suspended at this point.

The arrests came just hours after the Aggies' 85-74 win against Kentucky on Saturday night, a game which Chandler played five minutes in a reserve role.

The statement was issued after Chandler and Caldwell were both arrested on Sunday.

Chandler has played in 24 of A&M's 25 games and averaged 11.4 minutes per game.
