On January 18, Don Massey filed to run for Katy ISD School Board Position 7, currently held by Charles Griffin. There have been no other candidate filings for position 7 to date.
Massey was the general manager of Katy Mills (Simon Properties) for more than four years. While at Katy Mills, Massey was instrumental in spearheading the Simon Youth Academy, in partnership with Katy ISD. The Academy helps disenfranchised students get their diplomas in a specially designed classroom inside Katy Mills. "I want to continue to find and cultivate partnerships like this one that can help our students achieve their goals," says Massey.
During Hurricane Harvey, Massey was instrumental in coordinating various rescue effort's by using Katy Mills property as a staging area for ten emergency and recovery organizations that needed space. For his efforts, Massey was recognized as a Hurricane Harvey hero and named one of Katy Magazine's "Katy People of the Year" in the December 2017 issue.

Massey says he decided to run to continue to support the Katy community. "I want to be the voice for our Teachers, Students and Administration," says Massey. "I love our district and we have a responsibility to give back to it what it has given us, which is Excellence!"
Massey has served on boards and committees for the Katy YMCA, the Katy Area Economic Development Council, the downtown Katy Advisory Committee, and the City of Katy Convention and Tourism Bureau.
Massey is married to Carrie, who serves on the PTO Board of Katy Elementary sings in the worship band at Katy Community Fellowship Church. The Massey's have three children in Katy ISD; Alexis, a fourth grader, Olivia, a second grader, and Noah, a kindergartner.
Last fall, Massey accepted a new opportunity and now serves as COO of Rothchild Commercial Real Estate.
