Working off a tip, Precinct 5 officers in Harris County began an investigation into a meth dealer who was running an illegal drug business out of a home in the West Memorial neighborhood in Katy just a few blocks from Mason Road.
Filthy Home with Rat Feces
After obtaining a search warrant, Precinct 5 officers searched the home and found a substantial amount of meth and some marijuana inside. The rented home was filthy and smelled horrible. Deputies found rat feces, a large dog, and a tiny kitten inside. The suspected drug dealer wasn't home but a four-year-old boy was there, and was being taken care of by a woman who wasn't his mother.
Child's Bed Was in a Small Closet
Precinct 5 investigators learned the child's bed was inside this tiny closet. There was drug and sex paraphernalia just a few feet from where he slept. Investigators said the home wasn't fit for anyone, let alone a child so Precinct 5 called CPS. The child's mother was located and was arrested for two outstanding warrants; one of them was for drug possession.

Investigation Underway
The Harris County District Attorney's office also told Precinct 5 they would also charge the mother with endangering a child. A warrant for the alleged meth dealer's arrest has been issued. The identities of the two suspects are not being released until the charges are officially filed and the investigation is complete.
As for the four year old, precinct 5 deputies comforted the child gave him a huge teddy bear to hold onto.
The child was taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out and officers say they are investigating to see if the child has any other relatives in his life.
