Astros Honor Katy Veteran
104-year-old Thelma Williams of Katy served with the U.S. Army Corps from 1943 to 1947. She was honored for her service at the Astros second World Series game against the Philadelphia Phillies on October 29, 2022.
Williams Has Never Attended a World Series Game
“I have never been to a World Series Game, and I can’t believe that I can now take this off my bucket list,” said Ms. Williams about the experience.
Williams performed her duty during World War II in Germany and then Japan.
“We are so thankful the Houston Astros and its staff for honoring our greatest generation throughout the 2022 MLB Post Season and they have provided over 5,000 tickets for the regular and post season for veterans in our community this year alone,” said American Legion Commander Hector Giron of American Legion Post 654, who played a major part in arranging the Veteran honors at the game.
Veteran James Tamborello was also honored for his service.
