A 10-year-old boy was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a local hospital via Lifeflight. The boy was riding his bike and was struck by a vehicle right before 11:00 p.m. last night. The driver fled the scene and is still at-large.

Both Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Cy-Fair Police Department rushed to the scene of a hit-and-run that occurred just before 11:00 p.m. last night on the Fourth of July.

Reports from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division say that deputies found an unidentified 10-year-old boy in the middle of the intersection of Windy Stone and Concord Green in Katy. They say that their ongoing investigation shows that the driver was going north on Concord Green when he hit the boy.

The driver was driving a dark SUV and did not stop. He fled the scene with the bike still underneath his vehicle.

The boy was airlifted by Lifeflight to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead less than an hour after the crash.

The bike was found at Greenhouse and Keith Harrow, half a mile from where the incident occurred.

No reports have shared why the boy was out at the time or if he was with anyone or being supervised by parents.

This hit-and-run is still under investigation. The driver is still at-large and facing charges for failing to stop and render aid.

Authorities are working with those on the streets involved to access security footage that can aide the investigation. Reach out to Harris County Sheriff’s Office with any details.
