A Katy Family Disturbance Leaves One Man Dead

A family disturbance in a Katy home left one man dead Sunday evening. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez states that a woman and two teens who were inside the home, as well as all deputies called to the scene, were safe.

Multiple Calls Regarding Domestic Disturbance in William's Hamlet

Harris County Sheriff Office deputies received multiple calls involving a disturbance between a husband and wife Sunday afternoon. Around 5:00 pm, officers arrived at the residence at 24000 block of Wassail Way in the William's Hamlet neighborhood off of Franz Road.


Shots Possibly Fired in Home

According to police, the man was possibly intoxicated and may have fired shots inside the home. When they arrived, the police ensured the woman and the two teens with her in the home were safe.

Suspect Armed and Trying to Leave

Deputies believed the man was armed and tried to flee by jumping a fence. Police set up a perimeter. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said an encounter occurred between the man and a deputy, and the man pulled out a pistol.

Fatal Shots Fired

When the man pulled his weapon, the deputy fired shots fatally striking the man. The man is reported to have been in his late 30's to mid-40's.

No Deputies Injured

Sheriff Gonzalez said no deputies were injured. He said the deputy who fired the shots is a four-year veteran of HCSO.
