What do I do if my daughter refuses to clean up her room?

Advice from some of our Katy parent's panel:
DO NOTHING
“It's her room so let her live in the filth until she gets tired of it and cleans it herself.” - L.J.
JUST CLEAN IT FOR HER
“At our house I've found it's not worth the fight...I end up cleaning my teen son's room after I can't stand it one more day.” - B.R.
TAKE IT ALL AWAY
“Take away everything she loves until the behavior changes. Phone, tablet, extracurricular activities - everything. If she doesn’t change her mind on her own, her friends will probably change it for her.” - S.T.
TALK IT OUT AND FOLLOW THROUGH
“Talk to her about it first and see if she will tell you a good reason for not wanting to do so. Then, let her know why it’s important to you. If this doesn’t work, start taking away privileges.” - F.Y.
