SCHOOLS
Shoutout: Katy ISD Schools and Athletic Programs Each and every school and athletic program in Katy immediately stepped up to help those in need in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. We could not be prouder of the young men and women in the district who tore out sheet rock, served food, assisted with rescues, and offered their time to those in need.
British Private Prep School
Set up a distribution center for donations specifically for children, including clothes, bedding and toys.
Houston Christian High School Mustangs could be seen rescuing families from flooded homes, delivering water, organizing donations, and demoing homes.
Katy ISD
Immediately opened shelters for evacuees and set up a bus system to transport them. Four campuses were set up for emergency management stations and the district quickly found alternate campuses for damaged buildings. Teachers and administrators were selflessly volunteering and helping impacted families. Kids R Kids Katy Organized donation drive for affected families and supplied canned goods, towels, blankets, cleaning items, infant necessities, pillows and clothing to those who needed it.
Primrose Schools
Set up a distribution center and donated children's clothing to evacuees and provided free childcare for elementary-aged children as a service to the community.
University of Houston
Jumped into action and provided a campus space for Creech Elementary students.
